Desert Oasis, 240 a Night

Blanket heat like the warmth of an oven.

Foreign grass slashed through by blackened concrete paths.

Patches of desert in dunes and valleys.

Hidden cicadas singing snugly in the palms.

Pools full of chlorine and rooms full of games.

Planes swooping low with their brassy bass-hum noise.

Shelters of cold in the warm sandy braze.

Human light bathes the sky instead of stars.

Wide-laned streets where the vehicles zoom by.

Forest tipped mountains only seen from afar.
